Plain Financial Sense from FIS Issue 2, 2010

Time to count the cost

To outsource or not to outsource, that is the question. It's often a dilemma for banks, and particularly so at this time of global austerity. Fortunately, I’m pleased to say FIS is in a position to help - whichever side of the divide your bank falls on. And this edition of Focus contains stories that demonstrate our ability in either model.

Matthew Willman looks at some very interesting technological innovations that make outsourcing a compelling argument. Legacy systems that require nursing along with constant amends and maintenance are a drain on any organisation - Matthew shows how BASE 2000 can reduce much of that inefficient, costly activity, quickly and simply.

FIS' Systematics ALS software has a terrific reputation around the world as a feature-rich core lending platform. In this issue Richard Fraser explains how we’re using it as an outsourced service for lending – replacing legacy systems that date back as far as the sixties!

The News section celebrates the launch of FIS Core Processing Software as a Service in India, and the fact that our colossal Profile conversion at GSB in Thailand was so well handled it’s picked up an IBM Beacon Award.

Outsource or hosted in-house? At the end of the day the key is understanding our customers’ needs and providing the solution that works best for them. Even if you’re only in the early stage of thinking about this, we would be very happy to share some of our own experiences with you.
